Debby Mitchell said the disease requires immediate action at both the local and national level. The ROCC coalition — Reducing Obesity and Chronic Disease in our Community — sponsored the event and hopes it leads to improved school wellness policies and healthier lifestyles for children. ROCC is a coalition of the Beaufort and Jasper county school districts and more than 20 other local health and service organizations. Over the past two years, the coalition has collected Body Mass Index data, a measurement of body fat, from third-, fifth- and eighth-graders. Read Childhood Obesity
