The Butte County Collaborative for Childhood Obesity Prevention will bring together people who work with children, parents and relatives, community officials and others concerned with the problem of obesity in kids ages 0 to 5 years. How to stay up-to-date on current and upcoming research, funding, legislation, and trainings through monthly newsletters; and to be a voice for young children. Early childhood educators, home visitors and social workers and health providers will also be a part of the collaborative. OPT (Overweight Prevention and Treatment) for Fit Kids is a lifestyle program put together for children and their families. By using nutrition education for youngsters and their families, a public awareness campaign and education in the schools, OPT addresses the problem of overweight children in Butte County.
