The Tory leader has invited the star of toddlers’ television to be the emblem of his party’s anti-flab policies for the very young, at a launch on Thursday. Sportacus, played by Magnus Scheving, is the hyperactive hero of Lazy Town, a show broadcast in more than 100 countries. Clad in lycra, he fights a relentless campaign against his slothful arch-enemy Robbie Rotten, whose mission in life is to corrupt Lazy Town inhabitants into eating junk food and slobs. Dr Colin Wayne, the chairman of the National Obesity Forum, said he had been impressed by Sportacus when the hero addressed the forum’s London conference in October last year. The Tory leader said that people were too willing to walk by when they saw young people engaged in anti-social behaviour such as littering or spraying grafitti. Read Childhood Obesity
