Minnesota team mascots joined a group of nearly 200 supporters Thursday at the State Capitol for a rally against childhood obesity. According to the American Heart Association, there are more than nine million American children between the ages of six and 19 who are overweight. But according to a key finding in the Governor’s Task Force on Obesity, Minnesota does not have a system in place to track the health and obesity of children in the state. Centers for Disease Control ranks Minnesota as the twenty-first obese state in the nation, and says Minnesotan’s are becoming obese at a faster rate than the rest of the nation.
