We blame high fructose corn syrup, we blame fast food restaurants, we blame video games and we blame schools that have vending machines right outside the door of the classroom where they teach health classes. Somewhere along the way my wife and I stopped taking the family to fast food restaurants and started cooking recipes found in places like magazines and The Food Network. Sure, our kids probably think their mother and I are the biggest squares on the planet for denying them the junk they see in the cupboards at some other kids’ homes, but while we may seem lame now, we believe we’re fostering an approach toward healthful living that they will carry into adulthood.
