Chris Dodd announced today he’ll be holding two hearings on childhood obesity in the Senate subcommittee on children and families that he chairs. The first one is Wednesday and will begin to look at “the damaging effects of childhood obesity and possible solutions to address this growing problem,” according to a news release today. But before that, Dodd’s wife, Jackie Clegg Dodd will drop into a roundtable discussion on the issue tomorrow morning at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She and a long list of hospital officials and doctors will discuss [this might sound familiar] “the damaging impact of childhood obesity and possible solutions to address this growing problem,” according to another news release from Dodd’s office. Apparently, health experts believe “the current generation of American children may have shorter life expectancies and less healthy lives than their parents for the first time in 200 years” because of obesity and it’s related health problems.
