(Childhood Obesity News) SAN MATEO CO.: WEB SITES LAUNCHED TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD OBESITY - CBS 5

The Get Healthy San Mateo County Task Force has taken steps to address the 25 percent obesity rate amongst children with the launch of two Web sites featuring healthy recipes, eating tips and exercise advice for children as well as their teachers, parents and community. The blueprint shows nearly 5,000 obese children in the county, with rates highest in the Pacific Islander, Hispanic, black and Filipino communities. As part of the effort to address the childhood obesity epidemic, the task force created a Web site aimed at providing adults with the information they need including healthy recipes, funding opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity programs, and news about childhood obesity.
