Unfortunately, that statistic puts us near the top of the list in one category where we want to be at the bottom, as we are fifth-worst in the nation. At a time when kids should be more active and slimmer than at any time in their lives when they are not stuck behind a desk all day but instead running around at recess they are beginning their lives headed down a dangerous health path. If we are to improve this problem, adults will need to lead the way to a fit lifestyle. Our children spend a great deal of time at school; from the cafeteria to the ball fields, we need to make those hours as healthy as possible.
