If you’re a parent who watches like a hawk every bite your child puts into their mouth, it might not be such a bad thing after all. Previous studies have suggested if parents are too strict with waht they let their kids eat, those kids are likely to binge later in life and gain weight. But a new study suggests controlling your child’s eating habits and coaxing them to eat certain foods may not lead to future weight gain. In fact, researchers believe some degree of control may actually be beneficial in helping children maintain a healthy weight. Robert Bradley, who was part of the research says, “I think it suggests like so many studies do that we need to look into these a lot deeper so that we can find the kind of information, what kind of control, if any, at what time in a child’s life really does enable them to eat better and therefore not gain weight.
